What is your creative process when making music?
Usually I come up with a chord progression on guitar, and then work around that – coming up
with lyrics and melodies, and then forming it into a more fleshed out track. Sometimes it flows
out, sometimes it takes time!
Do you prefer to work alone or collaboratively?
I love to collaborate with people – I’m in a few bands, I’ve worked on people’s music with them
producing and recording, and I’ve jammed with a bunch of people at the open mics I run!

What inspires you as an artist?
A lot of my inspiration comes from the world around me, what I see – many of my songs are
about my own personal experiences and opinions, and the city around me.
How do you nurture your own creativity?
It’s about doing it, but not forcing it. Trying to write songs can flow sometimes, and sometimes it
doesn’t!
What are your favourite musical genres, and are there any you dislike?
I think my favourite genres are really indie/folk/grunge, but I listen to a vast range of music –
there’s nothing I really dislike!
How did you first get into music?
I had guitar lessons when I was younger, at school! I’ve played guitar for most of my life, and
done it in a more professional sense since around 2012.
What instruments can you play?
I can play guitar, both rhythm and lead, I play bass, I can play harmonica, and have a bit of
experience with piano.
Who inspired you to make music?
Acts like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell – their ability to create a story with their lyrics and
words is truly inspirational.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Northern alternative-folk. There’s a lot of different influences in my music and I like to think thatI’ve got a bit of a unique approach to it!
Do you have any upcoming shows?
I’ve got a show on the 3rd of April, at the Eagle Inn for my monthly show “The Monthly Spread”
that I put on through my label. There’s six acts from the scene, and it’s always a lovely night!
