Uncovering the journey to their upcoming single ‘Knots’ Jon describes how “It is a track I wrote in my bedroom about
ten years ago. I finally decided to record and release it this year. I was trying to find a jangly guitar-driven rhythm similar
to the song ‘Ships with Holes Will Sink’ by We Were Promised Jetpacks, and came up with this arrangement.” When it
comes to the delicate, yet important lyrics that thread their way through ‘Knots’, Jon unearths how he “based the lyrics
off experiences I have had of being in a position to achieve something, only to fail at the final hurdle. The narrative in the
song focuses on a ‘boy chases girl’ type of situation. It gives a familiar context. It was intended to be a reminder to do better next time – it didn’t work, but at least I got a good song out of it!”
With stunning melody, and a stomping sound overall, ‘Knots’ will attack your ears with a whole lot of heart. So brace
yourself for July 10th, as ‘Knots’ is just the beginning of an incredible new chapter for My Pet Rhino!
